When I graduated from college in 2011 I knew I wanted to be a doctor, but I didn’t necessarily know what I wanted to do before going to med school. In college, I explored and discovered what hobbies I love such as dancing, sewing, painting, rock climbing, cooking, etc. I didn’t feel like my transitional time needed to be completely devoted to further developing these hobbies, instead I wanted more experience that would enhance my application and further solidify why I wanted to go to medical school. I love being busy and having new experiences, but it was really challenging to figure out where to begin once I was out in the “real world.” It was hard to piece together when I would study and take the MCAT, apply, and what jobs or classes I wanted to pursue in the meantime.
I’m hoping this article will help you pre-meds figure out what is best to do during your transitory time and to reassure you that you are not alone!! I totally get where you’re at and I too have been in that awkward yet wonderful transitory time.
Dress (Jovani, Buffalo find), Shoes (Christian Louboutin), Purse (Judith Leiber, found on the real real)
Oliver and I went to the Top of the Standard for NYE and had the time of our lives. We soaked in the beautiful view, the cool vibe there and danced until 3AM!! We rarely get the opportunity to dance like this together and I loved every minute. I hope everyone is having a good New Year so far :)
Top (torn by ronny kobo, similar here), black pants (Mother Jeans), Chloe Small Hudson Bag
I turned 28 today! It was such a nice day and I got to spend it with my husband. I took a pilates class, had an amazing lunch at Rouge Tomate, went to Crossroads and Buffalo Exchange, took a tango lesson with Oli, and then he and our dog Sash sang happy birthday to me with a mini vanilla cupcake :) This was my birthday look. I actually bought the Torn by Ronny Kobo top at Crossroads with Cee in Boulder, CO!
This is my favorite coat. I obsessed about it for months before finally making the purchase. My mom got it for me for my birthday 3 years ago. It's Free People. It's got a great texture and is actually pretty warm. Tory Burch made a similar coat in the fall which is now very marked down.
As my dad puts it, I've "had a great year." I could not agree more: I've made some amazing friends, spent lots of time with my family despite living on opposite coasts, am so lucky to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor, and travelled a ton. I am so grateful for all of this.
